Notable Cases

Terry Bollea, p/k/a Hulk Hogan v. Gawker
After a three-week trial, a jury returned a verdict of $140.1 million in favor of our client Terry Bollea, professionally known as Hulk Hogan, against the media giant Gawker. Our lawyers handled jury selection, opening statements, closing arguments, and the examinations of all key witnesses.
Sarah Palin v. The New York Times Company
Represented Governor Palin in a defamation case against the New York Times. The jury trial in the Southern District of New York began January 24, 2022. The district court initially dismissed the case; however, we obtained a reversal of the order at the Second Circuit Court of Appeal and defeated a subsequent motion for summary judgment.
Anne McQueen v. Carole Baskin
We defended Carole Baskin against defamation claims brought by Anne McQueen and obtained a final judgment dismissing the case and awarding Carole Baskin attorneys’ fees under Florida’s Anti-SLAPP statute. We are also representing her in McQueen’s appeal of the judgment.
Tommy Hamm v. Netflix, et al.
Currently representing Bay County Commissioner Tommy Hamm in a defamation lawsuit against Netflix, Reel Peak Films, and several others based on the documentary “Immigration Nation.”
Robert Ritchie (p/k/a “Kid Rock”) v. Feld Entertainment
We were part of the team that defended Robert Ritchie’s (“Kid Rock”) First Amendment rights against a lawsuit pursuing injunctive relief and trademark infringement claims brought by Feld Entertainment (a/k/a “Ringling Bros.”).
Norman Gundel, et al. v. AV Homes, Inc. & Avatar Properties, Inc.
We obtained the dismissal of a Counterclaim filed against several homeowners in a class action lawsuit and an award of attorneys’ fees under Florida’s Anti-SLAPP statute, including an appellate victory resulting in one of Florida’s leading opinions on the procedures associated with the Anti-SLAPP statute.
Edouard Baussan v. Nia Imara, et al.
We represented Mr. Baussan, a prominent Haitian businessman, in an appeal of the denial of a special motion to strike his defamation case under California’s Anti-SLAPP lawsuit, and obtained an opinion affirming the denial of the Anti-SLAPP Motion.
