Brad Barrios and Ken Turkel recently completed a six-day jury trial and obtained a complete defense verdict for our client. The trial came after six years of contentious litigation between our client, a woman who wrote a self-help book about divorce, and her ex-husband. After the book was published, the plaintiff sued his ex-wife for  defamation by implication. Our lawyers were able to significantly narrow the allegedly defamatory statements at issue by obtaining partial summary judgment. However, several claims proceeded to trial in Volusia County, Florida. The jury returned a complete defense verdict in favor of our client after approximately thirty minutes of deliberation. Our client’s motion to recover her costs and attorney’s fees is pending.
